Intranet Technology

Before an intranet is developed, Dallas Partners gathers the requirements and accesses the goals of the intranet project. Base on the goals and requirements, Dallas Partners will recommend building the intranet in of of two frameworks. Dallas Partners exclusively uses Microsoft server side technologies and offers the follow two options for intranet development.

Custom .Net

Dallas Partners has the capability to develop custom intranets using the same standards found in many Microsoft frameworks. A custom intranet project is usually recommended when the requirements are simple, very specific, need to be flexible or require future extensibility.  Depending on the need, a corporate intranet can be built to interface with Active Directory, provide reporting services, collect open enrollment data, delegate content management, list important news announcements, use real-time employee surveys, perform document retention, used to administer third party systems, provide employee self service functions, and virtually any other function.

SharePoint

Microsoft SharePoint is one of the most powerful system on the market. When it comes to document collaboration, Microsoft Office integration, or the need for a "plug and play" system, SharePoint is the gold standard. Microsoft SharePoint is highly configurable and typically easy for end users to manage. It very little programming knowledge to use the built in features. SharePoint is usually not recommended for application development intense intranet sites.  In addition to the licensing cost for a SharePoint implementation, SharePoint development costs are usually a higher cost than custom .Net development.
